INSTALLATIONS:
VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS:
COMPRESSOR CLEARANCE: Maintain a minimum of 100 mm (approx. 4 inches) around the compressor unit area.
Rear and Top Space: If installing in a cabinet, it is generally recommended to have at least 50 mm to 75 mm of space at the rear and top.
SIDE SPACE: A minimum of 7.5 mm to 10 mm on each side is often suggested to allow air to circulate around the casing.
Airflow Vents: Ensure the mounting structure (cabinet or cupboard) has ventilation openings that are kept free of obstacles. If the space is very tight, installing a 12V auxiliary fan can significantly improve cooling.
MOUNTING ORIENTATION & STABILITY:
LEVEL SURFACE: The unit must be placed on a level surface. It is safe for continuous operation at inclines up to 30°, but for long-term running, a tilt angle of less than 5° is ideal.
FIXING: The fridge features a vibration-resistant design for off-roading, but it should be securely fastened to the floor or vehicle structure to prevent movement during transit.
ELECTRICAL CLEARANCE:
CABLE LENGTH: The unit comes with a 2.5m power cable. Ensure you have enough excess wire to allow the drawer to be fully extended without straining the connections.
CABLE GAUGE: For distances more than 2-metres from the battery, use at least 6mm² cabling to avoid voltage drop.
UNDER-SEAT INSTALLATION:
This is a popular choice for “weekender” campervans (like the VW Transporter) because it frees up cupboard space.
SUITABILITY: Fits perfectly under many “Rock and Roll” or RIB Altair seats (112cm, 120cm, and 150cm options).
AIRFLOW CONCERN: Under-seat areas can become “heat traps.” You must ensure the 3-sided net ventilation covers on the unit are not blocked by seat mechanisms or luggage.
EXTENSION: Ensure there is enough clearance for the drawer to slide out fully (approx. 400mm–500mm extension) without hitting seat legs or floor mats.
KITCHEN CABINET INSTALLATION:
Installing inside a cabinet provides a sleek, flush-mounted “OEM” look.
VENTILATION VENTS: You must install external vent panels in the cabinet face or sides to allow hot air to escape. Most installers recommend an intake vent low down and an exhaust vent high up to create a natural chimney effect.
SPACERS: Use wood blocks or spacers to raise the unit slightly if you need to clear a cabinet lip or floor trim.
MOUNTING: Use the pre-drilled holes or included brackets to secure the unit to the cabinet sides or floor to prevent it from sliding out when the drawer is opened.
